HISTORY

Raven Drum Foundation, founded in 2001 by Rick Allen, Drummer of Def Leppard and Healing Arts Educator, Lauren Monroe, brings musicians, health educators, and the philanthropic community together to support the healing of first responders and veterans struggling with post traumatic stress. The foundation provides mind, body, and drumming integrated workshops incorporating evidence based techniques such as guided visualization, breathwork, and heart-brain coherence education to support wellness, and regulation of the human nervous system. When music, intention, and healing wisdom all meet on the paths of neurobiology and psychology, we harmonize our inner mental and emotional states to effect positive change.

Since 2001, we have been engaging at risk populations in transformational drumming as a tool for healing. Our work has allowed participants to use complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) with a focus on energy medicine and rhythm. Our programs for trauma recovery including rhythm, multi sensory awareness, guided visualization, breath work and subtle energy techniques as an avenues for connection and post traumatic growth.

As an organization, we serve, educate, and empower through:

  • Promoting Veteran and First Responder resiliency through CAM therapies
  • Drumming for healing at-risk populations

Some of our most significant and impactful work has been that focused on suicide prevention, for Veterans and others at risk. The rate of Veteran suicide is 10 percent higher than the general population. In 202, statistics indicate that there was an overall decrease in Veteran suicide

Though the numbers remain staggering, and we wait to get updated data, we are encouraged that programs and broader efforts seem to have begun to make a difference. As a nonprofit, we are committed to being responsible and efficient stewards of your gifts.
