ENERGY HEALING- PART 1 with Lauren Monroe
***IMPORTANT: Our chats are also recorded on our FORUM on our online community. There you can comment and ask questions!***
Today we will be chatting with Lauren Monroe, energy healer and massage therapist, about energy healing in our everyday lives. We will be learning about tools to ground you, find balance and rejuvenation.
Raven Drum Community: Lauren, you seem to be such a peaceful person…how do you achieve that? We can all do energy healing, correct?
Lauren Monroe: In my experience, peace is an energy that you move in and out of, it isn’t something you have, it’s something you experience and are in connection with.
Lauren Monroe: In order to have peace and decrease stress the first step is AWARENESS. So many times we are in states of stress and aren’t even aware that we are not breathing. Like right now…we are typing so fast, I best most of us aren’t breathing, right?
Lauren Monroe: When we train our minds to continuously watch ourselves, we can make clear choices to be in stress or out of stress. Awareness is really the key.
Raven Drum Community: Lauren, how do we do that? How do we train our minds?
Lauren Monroe: When I say train, I mean committing to doing something with consistency
Raven Drum Community: Can yoga work?
Lauren Monroe: One way is to be aware of how you breathe during the day. Yes, yoga is great to train mind and body. Creating intention every day is another way to direct your life into peace. Intention is focusing your will and higher knowing in a particular direction.
Lauren Monroe: Let’s talk about bad energy. Here are some steps…Each morning, check in… check in with your body, your mind, your heart. Take inventory…So many times we go to sleep and wake up dealing with unfinished business and sometimes a stiff neck and a headache.
Raven Drum Community: But sometimes I feel like I am being selfish.
Lauren Monroe: Let me say this about the laws of energy and selfishness from my experience…When we are coming from a higher place to nourish ourselves, restore our hearts and be connected with our own health and wellbeing; this is not selfishness. It creates a field of love around you that can radiate and help others and impact others in a positive way.
Lauren Monroe: Let’s talk about using our energy fields for protection. When I first began working in the massage therapy field, I had a big problem with transference; picking up other people’s “stuff” because I was so open. I would get very sick sometimes. With intention, like creating a bubble of light around yourself, you can create a boundary. Your boundary is as strong as your intent is.
Lauren Monroe: Here is a beautiful visualization I was given to do by one of my teachers. If there is someone who is causing you to suffer, it could be someone that has hurt you in the past or is right in front of you like your mother having a conversation. Visualize the most beautiful rose in front of you. Take in its smell, its color, its beauty, and its purity. Now multiply the rose so you have dozens in front of you. Now with that in mind, give the roses to the person who is causing you suffering. Hand them to him or her with your mind. You can do this every day until you feel a change. Do this anytime that it feels good to you.
Raven Drum Community: Does that mean we make up with them or just find peace?
Lauren Monroe: You should have no expectations for a result, but what you can do is observe their actions in the real world. The change is with us, not with them. When we change ourselves, our world changes. We affect our whole world by directing our thoughts and also by allowing divine love to guide us. Do you know what I mean by divine love? It’s the love you feel when a butterfly dances around your face and then flies away; the love we feel when we are crying alone and we feel held and supported by a song that comes on the radio; the love we feel when we stand in awe of the sunrise. It is easy to miss this love when we are in our minds and not in our hearts.
Raven Drum Community: I have a favorite tree and if I need to change the way I’m feeling I look outside and see all the beautiful colors and it helps me relax and change my thinking.
Lauren Monroe: Yes, nature has its own resonant frequency without mind but with pure heart. Ok, so what if we don’t have a rainbow or a tree or a mountain to connect to, then what? We can remember the “energy”; the frequency. I know that sounds odd, but we can remember the frequency of negativity in the heartbeat right? So even in the darkest of emotions and situations, we can connect ourselves to love.
Lauren Monroe: Let’s talk about passion, rage and anger, shall we? My teacher told me once that you burn another’s karma when you become angry, and then you destroy yourself.
Raven Drum Community: If you acknowledge negative energy, you give it power
Lauren Monroe: Yes! We need to be aware of negative energy, but not give it power. We must also accept that we are angry people. When we accept ourselves we become free of the emotions that can destroy us. Go deeper into the anger, not becoming violent but by sitting and watching it within you.
Raven Drum Community: That’s kind of scary…some of it is pretty strong
Lauren Monroe: It’s torture, but if you stay with it, it will almost always turn to tears and then your heart opens and the grace pours in. Take it in moments, sitting watching your anger, accepting your anger and treating it like a wounded child.
Raven Drum Community: How do you deal with a lot of negative energy around you; the things you cannot control?
Lauren Monroe: When it is out of your control, surrender it up knowing that the people involved will be guided and you will be too. If you are being pulled into negativity, then you’re not in control, the negative energy is. Yes, stop and see yourself. Maybe the argument needs to wait 5 min, or an hour, or a day. Breathe and draw yourself into the moment. You may need to do this every 10 minutes to get you through it, but it will give you more power to be strong. Breathing with intent; energy follows intent.
Lauren Monroe: If you wait to finish an argument and then you are festering waiting to resolve it, you are still staying in the negativity. Retreat and focus on changing your own energy, accepting your anger, but connecting to something bigger than yourself. Speaking your mind can be very freeing as long as you are clear and are coming from your heart.
Raven Drum Community: So do we clear our minds during the waiting period with the visual reminders of love?
Lauren Monroe: Yes, that is one way. You can also anchor into a physical grounding like stretching or massaging acupressure points of the body that relieves stress. Squeezing around the bottom edge of your jaw, LIVER Meridian in Chinese medicine, helps with decreasing anger. Massaging your temporal area around your ears, gall bladder Meridian, for reducing anger.
